Well a private post in WordPress is not visible to your website visitors unlike regular WordPress posts, it is only visible to a logged in user with specific permissions. In this article, we will show you how to easily create a private post in WordPress.

What is a Private Post in WordPress? How Does it Work?

A private post in WordPress is not visible to your website visitors only visible to a logged in user with specific permissions as well as regular posts

WordPress has a user role system in it taht assigns capabilities and permissions to different user. Each WordPress user has a role assigned to them. Each role has capabilities and permissions to do specific tasks.

The user who has the permission to write and publish a post, can write a private post and publish it.

Look at the following roles and their permissions:

Administrator – Administrator Can create, edit, and delete any private post created by any user .
Editor – Editor Can create, edit, and delete any private posts created by any user.
Author – Author Can create, publish, edit, view and delete their own private posts (author can’t see the private post created by other user ).

To create a private post in WordPress, at first you have to create a post. To do so do follow the foloowing steps

Step 1) Login to WordPress admin -> Click on posts -> Click on new -> type the title of the post -> type the content of the post

Step 2) Look at the righ side publish boox

Step 3) Look at the Visibility: Public Edit -> click on edit -> choose private radio button -> ok ->publish
